Norwegian Seafood Expands Presence in Vietnam with Dedicated Pavilion at Vietfish 2026
1. A New Milestone in Vietnam-Norway Seafood Cooperation at Vietfish 2026
Norway’s debut National Pavilion at Vietfish 2026—featuring a record number of participating companies—marks a significant milestone celebrating 55 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1971–2026). The event reflects a shared commitment to promoting a sustainable blue economy and elevating the seafood value chain.
The pavilion brings together 9 leading enterprises (SalMar, Skretting, GenoMar Genetics AS, PHARMAQ, ScaleAQ, Optimar, Fjell Technology, Benchmark Genetics, TechValue) and 2 prestigious organizations: NHO and the Norwegian Seafood Federation. The opening ceremony welcomed representatives from the Royal Norwegian Embassy, Innovation Norway, VASEP, the Department of Fisheries and Fisheries Surveillance, and numerous industry partners.
Mr. Erlend Skutlaberg, Chargé d'Affaires at the Norwegian Embassy, noted that both countries share strong common ground as top global seafood exporters. Sustainable ocean industries have long been a core pillar of cooperation, now further materialized through the Green Strategic Partnership. Norway’s technology and extensive expertise serve as an ideal match to support Vietnam in enhancing its production capacity.

2. Breakthrough Solutions Across the Value Chain
Norwegian companies brought advanced technologies to the exhibition to address key industry challenges: optimizing performance, improving aquatic health, reducing antibiotic use, enhancing traceability, and processing marine by-products into value-added products.
Several units have already made a strong footprint in the Vietnamese market:
-
Fjell Technology Group: Introducing premium fishmeal and fish oil production technology from by-products, promoting energy efficiency and compliant wastewater treatment.
-
Benchmark Genetics & GenoMar Genetics AS: Providing genetic selection solutions and high-quality broodstock (GenoMar has operated a hatchery center in Tay Ninh since 2021).
-
PHARMAQ & Skretting: Distributing vaccines, health solutions, and sustainable nutrition (Skretting owns 2 factories in Tay Ninh).
-
ScaleAQ & SalMar: ScaleAQ operates a factory in Nha Trang manufacturing automated farming equipment; SalMar continues to supply premium fresh salmon since 2016.

3. Extensive Networking Activities
Throughout the exhibition (August 19–21), the Norway in Spotlight event series features technical presentations, interactive spaces, and direct B2B matchmaking.
-
Morning, Aug 20: Technical Seminar on green technology for aquaculture & processing.
-
Afternoon, Aug 20: Panel discussion co-organized with VASEP and the Department of Fisheries and Fisheries Surveillance on value chain linkages for high-value fishmeal and fish oil.

The Norwegian National Pavilion at Vietfish 2026 is not only a trade bridge but also vivid proof of efforts to realize the Green Strategic Partnership toward a modern, sustainable, and globally competitive Vietnamese seafood industry.
