VietShrimp 2025 Returns with the Theme “Greening Aquaculture Zones”
On the positive side, there has been a significant shift in awareness about the importance of environmentally friendly shrimp farming among producers and consumers alike. This shift has driven increased demand for certified green shrimp products. Advanced technologies such as recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), the use of probiotics, and environmental monitoring systems have helped reduce negative impacts on ecosystems. Government support through incentive policies, green credit funds, and the attainment of prestigious international certifications by many shrimp farms have provided a strong push for green transitions.

However, the journey to a greener shrimp industry still faces considerable obstacles. High investment costs for technology and infrastructure, particularly for small-scale producers, create significant financial pressures. Furthermore, a lack of knowledge and technical expertise in sustainable production remains a barrier that needs to be addressed.
Reaching consumers and ensuring stable prices for green shrimp products also present challenges. Lastly, environmental pollution from shrimp farming activities, especially in concentrated farming areas, continues to be a pressing issue requiring urgent solutions.
In summary, while notable achievements have been made, much work remains in Vietnam’s shrimp industry’s green transformation journey. Close collaboration between stakeholders—government, businesses, and shrimp farmers—is essential to drive this process forward, ensuring sustainable development and enhancing the global competitiveness of Vietnam’s shrimp industry.
“Greening Aquaculture Zones” will be the central theme of the 6th Vietnam International Shrimp Industry Technology Expo in 2025 (VietShrimp 2025), organized by the Vietnam Fisheries Association. The event will take place from March 26 to 28, 2025, at the Investment, Trade Promotion, and Exhibition Center in Can Tho (108A Le Loi, Cai Khe Ward, Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City).
VietShrimp 2025 promises to once again serve as a gathering place for businesses, organizations, and shrimp farmers from Vietnam and around the world.

The event will feature an exhibition area with over 200 booths showcasing fields such as shrimp seed production, machinery and equipment, aquaculture feed, veterinary products, and probiotics. Additionally, there will be a series of four seminars with participation from policymakers, businesses, and domestic and international speakers to share insights and discuss solutions for achieving the “Greening Aquaculture Zones” goal.
This collaborative effort aims to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of the shrimp industry, bringing Vietnamese shrimp to more global markets and solidifying its position and brand in the global shrimp industry.
