Launch of the VASEP Tilapia Production and Export Business Club
On November 14, 2025, at the Association’s Office (No. 7 Nguyen Quy Canh Street, Binh Trung Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) held the Conference of VASEP Tilapia Production and Export Enterprises. At the conference, VASEP and businesses operating in the tilapia sector agreed to establish the “VASEP Tilapia Production and Export Business Club.”
In the context of Vietnam’s seafood industry accelerating its strategy to diversify farmed species and export products, tilapia is emerging as a highly promising commodity, well aligned with international consumption trends and domestic production conditions. In 2024, Vietnam’s tilapia exports reached over USD 41 million and are expected to increase to USD 83 million in 2025—more than double. Many member companies have invested in farming areas, applied advanced processing technologies, developed value-added products, and gradually built a stable, high-quality, and competitive export supply chain for tilapia.
During the conference, participating companies expressed strong consensus and officially approved the establishment of the VASEP Tilapia Production and Export Business Club, including its Operating Regulations. This lays the foundation for closer coordination, information sharing, and sustainable development of the tilapia industry in the coming years.
The Club is established to strengthen linkages among tilapia producers, processors, and exporters; support each other in improving product value and quality; enhance production and export efficiency; and cooperate in addressing issues related to raw materials, quality, environment, market barriers, and policy. The Club also aims to build a sustainable cooperation network among businesses in the industry.
Members of the Club include VASEP member companies engaged in the production, processing, trading, or export of tilapia. Companies currently participating in the tilapia production–export chain but not yet VASEP members may also register to join the Club for a period of one year.
The Club will operate through industry information sharing, coordination to address market barriers, participation in policy consultation, and organizing quarterly meetings, workshops, surveys, trade fairs, and specialized events. All activities will be implemented transparently and democratically, with a Secretariat managed by the VASEP Office.
The Club’s Executive Committee consists of 2–3 members, including one Chair—who is a representative of the VASEP leadership—and 1–2 Vice Chairs elected based on democratic and transparent principles. The Executive Committee represents the Club in organizing activities, connecting with domestic and international agencies, and ensuring the Club’s strategic development orientation.
