Indonesia accelerates the expansion of its global seafood market share
According to Antara News Agency, 57 Indonesian companies have been granted export licenses to China and Turkey. Notably, Turkey is emerging as a potential market as it prepares to implement a new import system requiring businesses to register in the TROIS system for quality control. By 2025, exports to this market are projected to reach approximately 2,600 tons, focusing on products such as tuna, sardines, and processed seaweed.
Indonesia is accelerating its strategy to expand its presence in the international seafood market, leveraging its abundant marine resources to boost exports. The government considers the fisheries sector a key pillar of economic growth amid continuously rising global demand.

Meanwhile, China remains the largest market for Indonesian seafood, with export turnover in 2025 estimated to exceed 491,500 tons, equivalent to USD 1.04 billion. Indonesian companies currently supply more than 1,000 product lines, ranging from frozen squid to seaweed, reflecting their growing competitiveness.
However, a complex geopolitical landscape and the restructuring of global supply chains are intensifying competition. Exporting countries, including Indonesia, are accelerating policy reforms, reducing trade barriers, and seeking new markets. >In this context, Indonesia is expected to continue expanding its market share but will need to enhance quality standards and adapt flexibly to maintain its competitive advantage in the long term.
