For shrimp ponds, when the dissolved oxygen content in the pond environment is lower than 3mg/l, it causes the shrimp to turn pink. Many shrimp ponds in coastal areas of Central and Southern Vietnam have oxygen levels at night ranging from 1-2.8 mg O2/ml, sometimes even zero. The phenomenon of shrimp suffocation due to oxygen deficiency occurs in ponds with calm water surfaces, especially those with a lot of organic sludge or excessive organic fertilizer.
