VietShrimp Asia & Aquaculture Vietnam 2026 | Smart Aquaculture – The AI Revolution in Aquaculture
On March 18, in Ho Chi Minh City, the International Aquaculture Exhibition 2026 and the VietShrimp Asia 2026 International Shrimp Industry Technology Exhibition officially opened. This marks the first time the two events are held simultaneously, creating a notable meeting point for businesses, scientists, and policymakers in the region.

Opportunities to share technology and expand cooperation
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Le Viet Binh, Deputy Chief of Office of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in charge of the southern region, stated that Vietnam’s fisheries sector has continued to play a key role in the agricultural economy for many years. In addition to making a major contribution to exports, the sector provides livelihoods for millions of workers, especially in rural, coastal areas and the Mekong Delta.
In 2025, the country’s total fisheries production reached nearly 10 million tons, with aquaculture serving as the main growth driver. Export turnover reached USD 11.3 billion, up more than 12% compared to the previous year.
Entering 2026, growth momentum has been maintained, with the first two months recording approximately 1.28 million tons of output (up nearly 3%), while export value reached USD 1.76 billion, an increase of 23% year-on-year.
These results reaffirm Vietnam’s position in the global market while also highlighting significant growth potential.
However, the sector is also facing multiple challenges, including geopolitical fluctuations affecting supply chains, rising input and logistics costs, as well as increasingly evident impacts of climate change, saltwater intrusion, extreme weather, and disease risks. In addition, international markets are imposing stricter requirements on traceability, IUU fishing prevention, and sustainable development, Mr. Binh noted
According to him, in response to these challenges, the agriculture and environment sector is implementing synchronized solutions, including improving institutions, developing sustainable farming areas, controlling IUU fishing, restructuring toward an ecological and circular model, and accelerating digital transformation across the sector. At the same time, authorities are actively working with the European Commission to remove the “yellow card” warning as soon as possible.
Mr. Le Viet Binh emphasized that the application of artificial intelligence, big data, sensors, and automation will enable real-time monitoring of farming environments, disease prediction, and optimization of production processes. This is considered a breakthrough direction that will enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve the competitiveness of Vietnam’s fisheries sector.
In this context, VietShrimp Asia 2026 and Aquaculture Vietnam 2026 are not only product exhibition platforms but also important forums for stakeholders to share experiences, update technologies, and explore cooperation opportunities, aiming toward sustainable development of the entire industry in the coming time, according to a representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.

Towards smart aquaculture
Mr. Ben ong, General Director of Informa Markets Vietnam, said that this year’s exhibition brings together more than 150 brands and around 7,000 visitors from over 20 countries. It is considered the largest and most internationally diverse edition to date, contributing to enhancing Vietnam’s aquaculture industry position and strengthening connections with regional and global markets.
The exhibition space is organized by specialized sectors, covering the entire aquaculture value chain from broodstock, feed, and equipment to advanced technologies and AI-based farming models.
With the theme “Smart Aquaculture – The AI Revolution in Aquaculture,” the exhibitions aim to serve as hubs for trade connection and knowledge sharing. Many digital technologies, automation solutions, and advanced farming models are being introduced, focusing on practical applications in production.

In addition, the event hosts 50 conferences and technical seminars, along with programs that bring farmers from the Mekong Delta to visit, access new technologies, and directly interact with experts.
According to the organizers, the exhibitions will be held alternately between Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta region. The next edition is expected to take place in Can Tho in March 2027, aiming to bring technology closer to real production practices.
