VietShrimp 2025 & The Strategy for Greening Shrimp Farming
1. Overview of VietShrimp
VietShrimp, short for the AQUACULTURE INTERNATIONAL FAIR, is a major forum for both the domestic and international shrimp farming community. It brings together leading Vietnamese shrimp industry enterprises, offering cutting-edge technological solutions and modern farming models aimed at accelerating the greening of shrimp farming areas. Additionally, it serves as a bridge for the four stakeholders —Government authorities, Scientists, Businesses, and Farmers—to collaborate in achieving global goals and ensuring the sustainable development of Vietnam's shrimp industry.

First launched in 2016 as a biennial event, VietShrimp has been successfully held five times: in 2016 and 2018 in Bac Lieu, in 2021 and 2023 in Can Tho, and in 2024 in Ca Mau. Over the years, it has evolved into a major event in Vietnam’s aquaculture sector and a specialized shrimp exhibition of regional and Asian significance. Each VietShrimp event has welcomed over 200 suppliers of shrimp seed, feed, veterinary medicine, and technological equipment.
VietShrimp 2025 will feature an exhibition area with over 200 booths showcasing products from various fields, including shrimp breeding, machinery and equipment, aquafeed, aquaculture veterinary medicine, and probiotics. Additionally, the event will include a series of four seminar sessions with participation from industry leaders, businesses, and experts from Vietnam and abroad. These discussions will focus on finding practical solutions to implement the Greening Shrimp Farming initiative, contributing to a more efficient and sustainable shrimp industry while expanding the global reach of Vietnamese shrimp and strengthening its brand in the international shrimp market.
2. International Shrimp Industry Expo 2025 – Greening Shrimp Farming
VietShrimp is an annual event in Vietnam dedicated to the shrimp farming industry. It serves as a key platform for networking, learning, and discussing new trends, advanced technologies, and sustainable solutions in shrimp farming. More than just an exhibition showcasing new products and technologies, it is also an essential forum for sharing experiences, addressing challenges, and fostering new business collaborations.
For 2025, VietShrimp returns with the theme Greening Shrimp Farming. According to experts, green development aligns with circular economy principles, promoting sustainability by utilizing waste resources and minimizing environmental pollution. Green production also ensures the long-term use of raw materials while restoring natural ecosystems.

This closed-loop production model reuses waste as raw materials, reducing environmental impact, protecting ecosystems, and safeguarding human health. Green development helps conserve natural resources, enhance competitiveness, create new markets, generate employment, and increase social value. The green transition presents both challenges and significant opportunities for the shrimp industry. Green-certified shrimp products, such as those with ASC certification, are increasingly favored by international markets and command a 10–30% price premium. According to VASEP, companies adopting sustainable shrimp farming models have reported revenue growth of 15–20%, highlighting the strong economic potential of this transformation.
VietShrimp 2025 promises to be a key gathering point for businesses, organizations, and shrimp farmers from Vietnam and around the world.
However, the green transition in the shrimp industry still faces considerable obstacles. The high investment costs required for technology and infrastructure pose financial challenges, especially for small-scale farmers. Additionally, a lack of knowledge and technical expertise in sustainable production remains a limitation. Market access and maintaining stable prices for green shrimp products are also ongoing challenges. Finally, environmental pollution from shrimp farming, particularly in concentrated farming areas, remains a critical issue that requires urgent solutions.
3. Aqua Mina at VietShrimp 2025 – A Must-Attend Event for the Shrimp Industry
With the growing demands of major global markets, particularly in the EU, Vietnam’s seafood industry must develop solutions to control, reduce, and neutralize emissions throughout the supply chain—from harvesting and farming to processing and consumption. Among these, the farming sector plays a crucial role in both value creation and waste generation. Therefore, greening shrimp farming areas should not be seen as a challenge or pressure but rather as a means to enhance the value and image of Vietnam’s clean and sustainable seafood industry, improving competitiveness and facilitating global market expansion.
