From seed stock to farming equipment, high-tech aquaculture attracts strong interest in Ho Chi Minh City

For the first time, two exhibitins are held simultaneously in Ho Chi Minh City
On March 18, at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC, Ho Chi Minh City), two major industry events—VietShrimp Asia 2026 and Aquaculture Vietnam 2026—officially opened, attracting a large number of businesses, experts, policymakers, and aquaculture farmers from both domestic and international markets.
This marks the first time the two exhibitions are held simultaneously in Ho Chi Minh City, creating a large-scale networking platform for the entire seafood value chain, from broodstock, feed, equipment, farming technology, environmental treatment to processing, logistics, and export.
According to the organizers, this year’s exhibition gathers more than 150 brands and over 7,000 industry visitors from more than 20 countries and territories.
The theme of the event is “Smart Aquaculture – The AI Revolution in Aquaculture,” reflecting the growing trend of applying digital technology, data, and artificial intelligence in the aquaculture industry.

Mr. Ben Wong, General Director of Informa Markets Vietnam, stated that 2026 marks an important milestone as VietShrimp expands into VietShrimp Asia for the first time and is co-organized with Aquaculture Vietnam.
According to him, this not only expands the scale but also elevates the international profile of the event, enabling Vietnam’s aquaculture industry to connect more deeply with regional and global markets.
Mr. Wong noted that this is the largest and most international edition ever held. In addition to exhibition activities, the event also features 50 conferences and technical seminars focusing on topics such as AI in aquaculture, environmental management, productivity improvement, and sustainable value chain development.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Le Viet Binh, Deputy Chief of Office of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment in charge of the Southern region, stated that fisheries continue to play a key role as one of the most important economic sectors of Vietnam’s agriculture.
However, the industry is also facing many challenges such as climate change, disease outbreaks, rising input costs, and increasingly stringent requirements from international markets regarding traceability, sustainability standards, and supply chain transparency.
“In this context, improving seed quality, controlling diseases, optimizing farming environment management, and promoting the application of science, technology, and innovation are urgent requirements,” Mr. Binh emphasized.
Seed, equipment, and technology attract strong interest
According to observations by Tuoi Tre Online right after the opening, the exhibition atmosphere quickly heated up as many booths were crowded with visitors exploring products, technologies, and business opportunities.
At exhibition areas showcasing seed, feed, biological products, farming equipment, and AI-based solutions, visitors continuously stopped to listen to presentations, ask technical questions, and discuss cooperation opportunities. Many booths were almost fully occupied during the first hours.
Many companies introduced key species such as black tiger shrimp, whiteleg shrimp, tilapia, and red tilapia, along with solutions for intensive, super-intensive farming and digital environmental monitoring.
In addition to seed, many booths also presented biological products, water treatment systems, automatic feeding equipment, environmental monitoring solutions, and farm management software.

These segments are expected to grow strongly as the aquaculture industry must simultaneously address productivity, disease control, and sustainability requirements.
Other booths displayed water filtration systems for ponds, aerators, and advanced feed technologies aimed at improving economic efficiency.
Aquaculture accelerates impressively, exports reach USD 1.76 billion in the first two months of 2026
According to statistics from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in 2025 Vietnam’s total seafood production reached nearly 10 million tons, of which aquaculture accounted for over 6.1 million tons, continuing to be the main growth driver of the industry. Seafood export turnover reached approximately USD 11.3 billion, up more than 10% compared to the previous year.
In the first two months of 2026, seafood exports reached about USD 1.76 billion, up more than 23% year-on-year.
Another highlight of this year’s VietShrimp Asia and Aquaculture Vietnam exhibition is the visitor support program, expected to bring around 1,000 farmers from the Mekong Delta provinces to attend.

According to the organizers, the program aims to enable farmers to directly access new technologies, participate in specialized seminars, and engage with industry experts.
The exhibition takes place from March 18 to 20 in Ho Chi Minh City. According to the plan, the event will alternate between Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta, with the next edition scheduled to be held in Can Tho in March 2027.
