Vietnamese Shrimp Rises to Top 3 Supplier in the Singapore Market
In the context of strong growth in Vietnam–Singapore trade in 2025, the seafood sector recorded remarkable progress, with shrimp and crustacean products emerging as highlights. This performance helped Vietnam enter the Top 3 largest seafood suppliers to the Singapore market.

According to data from Enterprise Singapore, Vietnam’s seafood exports to Singapore continued to grow positively in 2025. In particular, the crustacean group, led by shrimp, increased by 25.4 percent compared to the previous year, ranking among the fastest-growing product categories. As a result, Vietnamese seafood rose from sixth to third place among Singapore’s largest seafood suppliers, behind only Malaysia and Indonesia. The total value of Vietnam’s seafood exports to Singapore in 2025 reached SGD 125.5 million, accounting for 10.3 percent of the market share, with shrimp playing an increasingly important role in the export structure.

The strong growth of Vietnamese shrimp is driven by advantages such as stable quality, abundant supply, and the ability to meet Singapore’s strict food safety standards—one of the most demanding markets in the region. Frozen and processed shrimp products are becoming increasingly popular among consumers and distribution systems in Singapore.
However, the Vietnam Trade Office in Singapore also noted that competitive pressure is intensifying, particularly from China, a direct competitor in the crustacean segment. To maintain its Top 3 position and expand market share, Vietnamese shrimp exporters need to continue investing in technology, improving product quality consistency, and strengthening trade promotion and brand building in the local market.
