Vietnam’s Seafood Industry Targets $14–16 Billion in Exports by 2030
On the morning of June 12 in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) held its 7th General Assembly for the 2025–2030 term, under the motto: “Proactive Adaptation – Innovation – Sustainable Development.”

One of the key highlights of this year’s congress was the recognition of Vietnam’s remarkable breakthroughs in seafood exports during the 2020–2025 period. Despite facing global disruptions from the COVID-19 pandemic, geopolitical conflicts, and trade tensions, the industry achieved impressive milestones—boosting export turnover from USD 8.5 billion in 2020 to USD 9 billion in 2021, and surging to a record USD 11 billion in 2022.
Seafood exports have shown a steady recovery: maintaining USD 9 billion in 2023 and bouncing back to over USD 10 billion in 2024.
These achievements are credited to the timely directives from the government and relevant ministries, which helped resolve export-related bottlenecks, promoted market expansion, eliminated trade barriers, and laid a sustainable foundation for Vietnam’s seafood export growth.
VASEP leadership emphasized that the assembly is an important opportunity for the entire industry to review the past five years and collectively discuss strategic directions for the next phase. The overarching goal is to elevate the role of the association, strengthen linkages among member enterprises, and promote sustainable development of Vietnam’s seafood sector in the face of emerging global challenges.
By 2030, Vietnam aims to develop its seafood industry into a modern, globally competitive, and sustainable sector, targeting export revenues between USD 14 and 16 billion.
