Sharing: Fresh Shrimp Prices Rise, Farmers Rejoice in Ho Chi Minh City
On August 26, Cho Ben Cooperative in Long Dien Commune (Ho Chi Minh City) organized the harvest of its second shrimp crop of 2025.
After three months of farming, whiteleg shrimp reached a size of 25–30 pieces per kilogram, with traders purchasing fresh shrimp directly at the pond for 170,000–180,000 VND per kilogram. In this crop, the cooperative harvested 11 ponds with an average yield of over 3 tons per pond. With prices rising as they are now, farmers are assured of making a profit, and if seed quality is good and environmental conditions favorable, the net profit can reach around 30% of total revenue.
Cho Ben Cooperative currently manages 3 hectares of aquaculture, including 11 whiteleg shrimp ponds, a nursery pond, and a settling pond for daily water exchange. The unit has adopted the “CP.Biotic Farming” biosecure shrimp farming model, which ensures good water quality control, disease prevention, shorter culture cycles, and higher profits. Each year, the cooperative farms three shrimp crops, with each harvest lasting around four days.

To promote high-tech aquaculture, the commune has received investment in transportation infrastructure, power grids, and canal systems. At the same time, relevant authorities have also introduced mechanisms and preferential credit policies to support farmers in economic development.
