Sharing: EU increases shrimp imports in the first 9 months of the year
Southern and Northwestern Europe imports still rising but losing momentum
All major regions recorded slower growth in September. Southern Europe imported 24,756 tons (+12%), lower than the 25–30% growth seen in previous months, but the cumulative volume still reached 202,243 tons (+18%). Northwestern Europe increased only 1% to 15,079 tons in September, though the nine-month total reached 119,398 tons (+18%). Eastern Europe surged 61% to 1,935 tons, despite high volatility; the nine-month total reached 10,456 tons (+12%).
Frozen shrimp and value-added shrimp both show slower growth
In September, the EU imported 36,688 tons of frozen shrimp (+9%), significantly lower than the 25–40% increases seen in spring and early summer. Cumulative imports reached 290,567 tons (+18%).
Value-added shrimp reached 5,083 tons (+15%), bringing the nine-month total to 41,530 tons (+19%).

Ecuador and India maintain strong momentum, Vietnam stabilizes
Ecuador continued to lead with 21,205 tons (+33%), though below the strong growth seen in Q2; cumulative imports reached 181,777 tons (+36%).
India recorded its best month of the year with 7,051 tons (+33%), raising its nine-month total to 44,066 tons (+28%).
Vietnam exported 5,343 tons, down 1%, indicating a slowdown; the nine-month total reached 41,010 tons (+14%).
Venezuela fell sharply to 1,524 tons (-73%), with a cumulative 16,565 tons (-51%).
Bangladesh maintained strong growth, exporting 1,865 tons (+31%), reaching 10,540 tons in nine months (+29%).
