Ca Mau Maintains Its Shrimp Brand in International Competition
According to statistics, the province’s total aquatic production in 2025 reached 1,268,500 tons, an increase of 5.56% compared to the previous year; shrimp output alone reached nearly 595,000 tons. Seafood export turnover surpassed USD 2.5 billion, making a significant contribution to local economic growth. To date, the province has more than 36,400 hectares of shrimp farming certified under international standards such as Naturland, EU Organic, ASC, and BAP, with nearly 8,000 participating households, gradually affirming the “Ca Mau Shrimp” brand in the global market.

Ca Mau promotes high-tech shrimp farming to enhance export competitiveness
At the same time, high-tech shrimp farming models continue to expand. The province currently has six enterprises certified in high-tech agriculture, along with 27 organizations and more than 6,000 households practicing super-intensive shrimp farming under two- to three-stage production processes. Advanced technologies such as recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), Biofloc, lined ponds, and greenhouse systems help control the farming environment, improve success rates, and increase economic efficiency by 10–20% compared to traditional methods.
However, Ca Mau’s shrimp industry still faces numerous challenges, ranging from underdeveloped irrigation, power supply, and internal transportation infrastructure to intense competition from major producing countries such as Ecuador, India, and Thailand. In addition, technical barriers related to traceability, carbon emissions, and increasingly stringent “green” standards are becoming more demanding.
Entering 2026, Ca Mau has identified the continued promotion of science and technology application, digital transformation, and the development of a closed-loop, sustainable shrimp value chain as key priorities. The province aims to raise shrimp output to approximately 624,000 tons, maintaining its leading role in Vietnam’s shrimp industry.
