AQUA MINA PROMOTES GIANT FRESHWATER PRAWN FARMING
Giant Freshwater Prawn Farming Thrives on Large-Scale and Sustainable Development
Giant freshwater prawn farming has emerged as a significant economic driver for local farmers, providing sustainable income and expanding opportunities in aquaculture.

A Growing Industry
In Trà Cổ Commune, Tân Phú District, Đồng Nai Province, giant freshwater prawn farming has become a booming industry.
As of now, prawn farming has evolved into a primary livelihood for many farmers, with an expanded farming area of approximately 200 hectares. Each harvest yields an impressive 1.8 to 2 tons per hectare.
Since 2016, with support from the Fisheries Department and local authorities, farmers have been able to maintain stable farming practices and enhance productivity. From 2021 to 2025, Đồng Nai Fisheries Department introduced a new farming process, reducing production time and enabling two harvests annually.
Advantages of Farming in Đồng Nai
Freshwater Environment: Suitable for the natural habitat of giant freshwater prawns, allowing for easy expansion of farming areas.
Strategic Location: As the gateway to the Southeastern economic region and home to Ho Chi Minh City, the country’s largest commercial hub, Đồng Nai holds a logistical advantage.
Favorable Climate: Unlike the central region, Đồng Nai experiences minimal annual storms and floods.
Developed Infrastructure: With well-connected transportation, industrial zones, and a growing population, the province supports a robust demand for prawn farming, along with the development of restaurants and food services that boost local consumption.
