I. Architect Vu Hong Thai Speaks on “The Importance of Design in Shrimp Farm Investment and Operation” at VietShrimp 2024
With the topic “The Importance of Design in Shrimp Farm Investment and Operation”, Architect Vu Hong Thai, Design Director of Aqua Mina, presented the KEYS TO OPERATING A SHRIMP FARM SCIENTIFICALLY – AS IF MANAGING A SHRIMP PRODUCTION FACTORY – FOR FARM OWNERS.

The VietShrimp 2024 International Aquaculture Conference, held over two days, brought together professors, PhDs, leading experts, and keynote speakers in the aquaculture industry. More than just a scientific forum with diverse in-depth content, the conference also provided opportunities for discussion, debate, and learning among businesses and farmers.
In a specialized aquaculture session, Architect Vu Hong Thai, the first to standardize the High-Tech Shrimp Farm Design Consultancy Process in a professional, scientific, and effective way, shared valuable insights that help clients successfully build and manage shrimp farms.

With the theme “Accompanying Shrimp Farmers”, VietShrimp 2024 aimed to contribute collectively toward implementing the Government’s vision, serving as a major forum connecting the “Four Houses”: regulators, scientists, businesses, and farmers. It also promoted the image of Vietnamese shrimp on the global market, further strengthening the international presence of Vietnam’s aquaculture sector.
During the two-day exhibition (March 20–21, 2024), 38 presentations were delivered under four main topics:
- Research, application, and technology transfer to boost circular economy in Vietnam’s shrimp value chain
- Dialogue on low-emission and sustainable shrimp farming under the circular economy model
- Enhancing quality and upgrading value
- Maximizing efficiency in shrimp farming

These sessions took place at the main hall of Ca Mau Conference Center, Ca Mau City, Vietnam.
Architect Vu Hong Thai’s session on “The Importance of Design in Shrimp Farm Investment and Operation” was a success, offering farm owners the know-how to operate their shrimp farms scientifically and effectively. III. Aqua Mina Participates in the World Shrimp Summit 2023 in Ho Chi Minh City
The World Shrimp Summit 2023 brought together the most influential individuals and organizations in the global shrimp value chain to address major challenges faced by the shrimp industry in Asia and worldwide – from stagnant production to farmers’ livelihoods – under the overarching theme of sustainability and climate change.

Representing Aqua Mina, Chief Engineer Tommy attended and summarized key points, including:
- Sustainability in shrimp farming and proposals for a development fund supporting small extensive black tiger shrimp farmers with limited access to credit.
- Carbo certification as a driving factor reshaping farming practices and mangrove reforestation.
- Reserch on optimal water flow and energy consumption for shrimp in round tanks (preferred velocity 15–25 cm/s at 2m depth).
- Multi-layer RAS shrimp farming in indoor facilities with AI support, considered the “shrimp factory of Europe.”
- Automated feeding drones in Australia delivering 50 kg per flight.
- The vital role of women in mangrove–shrimp ecosystem development.
- Online training courses from Thailand to improve farmer knowledge.
- Development of disease-resistant shrimp strains as the next frontier.
- Stress and disease in shrimp linked primarily to high stocking densities.
- Recognition of two scientists from Japan and the U.S. for lifetime contributions to global shrimp aquaculture.
- Use of fishery by-products for new product industries (VNF case study).
- Growing application of AI and big data in shrimp farming globally.
- Innovative rental models in India offering shrimp farming equipment for as little as $2/month.
- Brazil exploring shrimp farming expansion with IMNV disease as its main challenge.

The importance of aligning with global retailers like Walmart, who are committed to low-emission supply chains.
Certification challenges: only 3% of farms globally hold ASC/GlobalGAP, leaving 97% needing additional standards.
The summit emphasized punctuality, professionalism, and the need for strong English proficiency to participate effectively in global forums.
