Shrimp and Pangasius Exports Regain Momentum in 2024
The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) reported that as of the end of July 2024, Vietnam's shrimp exports reached 375 million USD, an increase of 17% compared to July 2023. Last month's shrimp exports also recorded the highest value since the beginning of the year. Shrimp exports grew in most major markets, such as the U.S., China, and the EU, as inventory levels decreased and demand for imports rose to meet the year-end holiday season. Additionally, the price of raw shrimp from global producers, including Vietnam, showed an upward trend, positively impacting export prices.
Shrimp and Pangasius Exports Regain Momentum

Pangasius exports experienced impressive growth compared to 2023. According to customs data, pangasius export revenue in July reached over 184 million USD, an increase of 29% compared to July 2023. Cumulatively, in the first seven months of this year, pangasius exports have exceeded 1.1 billion USD, up 9% compared to the same period last year.
From August 21-23, the International Seafood Exhibition (Vietfish) will also be held in Ho Chi Minh City, attracting more than 280 exhibitors and 496 booths from Vietnam and 15 other countries. According to the organizers, Vietfish 2024 will continue to be an important business connection point, boosting seafood exports in the final months of the year. Hundreds of key export products such as frozen seafood, fresh seafood, canned goods, dried goods, fish sauce, and related industries like technology, equipment, and clean energy will be showcased, creating a vibrant picture of Vietnam's seafood industry. This year's Vietfish will also feature countries like the U.S. with its famous Alaska salmon, wild-caught seafood from Indonesia, India, Russia, Japan, and China.
